The digital signature process

Digitally sign instead of print, scan, wait

Print, sign, scan, send back: the same game for every contract, and every media break costs time. With ePost Sign, you get digital signatures in a seamless process: send, sign electronically, automatically receive back. You upload the document in the browser, your customers sign where they receive their mail anyway (in the Swiss Post-App), and the signed document automatically comes back to you.

Sign in the Swiss Post-App

What recipients receive: the document in the digital inbox of the Swiss Post-App. Check, sign with a swipe, done. This also applies to signatories who sign on behalf of a company or organization: they sign in the Swiss Post-App and choose whether to sign privately or on behalf of the organization.

Frequently asked questions

Is the signature legally valid?

Yes. ePost Sign uses the qualified electronic signature (QES). It is equivalent to a handwritten signature under Swiss law (ZertES) and EU law (eIDAS).

Do the signatories need the Swiss Post-App?

No. Those who have the Swiss Post-App sign directly in the digital inbox. Everyone else receives an invitation by e-mail and signs after registering once in the browser.

How do the signatories identify themselves for the QES?

Via a one-time, free online identification via SwissID. Afterwards, they can sign as many documents as they want.

What documents can I send for signature?

PDF documents of any kind: contracts, quotations, powers of attorney, agreements, consents. For the few documents requiring a legal form (e.g. consumer credit contracts or temporary work contracts), the QES is even mandatory. The table above shows which standard is suitable for which purpose.

Where are the data stored?

Exclusively in Switzerland, under the highest security standards and FADP-compliant.

How do I see who has already signed?

In the signature room, you can track the status of each document in real time: pending, signed, or rejected. Every step is documented in the audit trail.

Does this protect me from fake documents?

Before the crucial gaps, yes: the identity of the signatories is verified, and any manipulation after the signature renders it invalid. This can be checked directly in the document, for example, using the Federal Validator. Organisational controls such as the ‘four-eyes principle’ do not replace a signature.

Do I pay per document or per signature?

You pay per signature, not per document.

Can a person sign on behalf of a company?

Yes. An electronic signature always belongs to a person, never to a company. That’s why the CEO or purchasing manager also signs in the Swiss Post-App and chooses whether the signature is private or on behalf of the company when signing. There is no need for a separate business account or an additional login.
